The voyage

A decent sail on the Frisian Seanot a race, but an achievement

The Driehoek Noordzee Challenge is a passage-making event of around 1,100 miles across the northern North Sea. There is no start and no finish. You sail your own voyage, with your own boat and your own crew, and you decide when you leave and which route you take.

What you don't have to work out on your own is the preparation. Skippers, crew and the organisation help each other plan the legs. At sea you know other boats are heading the same way, and in port you share the pontoon with them in the evening.

In 2027 we sail from Harlingen to Kirkwall in Orkney, and from there to Stavanger in Norway. It is the first time we make that crossing.

If you can handle the Driehoek Noordzee, you can sail the whole world.
